Raymond Lanoux has found a welcoming spiritual home at St. Margaret’s—and if you’ve spent any time there in the past year and a half, you may have already experienced his easygoing presence and thoughtful spirit.

Raymond also answers to “Ray.” He grew up in the Baton Rouge area and graduated from Denham Springs High.

Raymond lives in Gonzales, where he’s been since 2022, along with his partner of 11 years, Arthur Duplessis. The two met in Baton Rouge through an online dating app and quickly discovered they had a lot in common. What began as a connection grew into a lasting commitment, and more than a decade later, they’re still building life together. Their household also includes two beloved dogs: Nikki, a 12-year-old terrier mix, and Kermit, a two-year-old lab mix.

Professionally, Raymond is a software developer with over five years of experience. He currently works as a contractor supporting the U.S. Navy, focusing on web-based personnel management systems. It’s detailed, problem-solving work that suits him well and keeps him engaged. Arthur works as a manager for the OMV.

Outside of work, Raymond leans happily into what he calls “nerd territory.” He enjoys video games, reading, and watching TV—and recently, he’s picked up building Gundam models with a couple of fellow parishioners. Arthur shares similar interests, especially when it comes to Pokémon and Digimon games. Arthur has an art degree he’s never used professionally—though depending on who you ask, his gaming might count as a creative outlet.

After years of exploring different faith traditions—beginning in the Catholic Church, spending time in a Pentecostal setting, and even a season as an agnostic—Raymond eventually felt the pull to find a new faith community. That search led him to St. Margaret’s, where he says the openness and friendliness of the people immediately stood out. He’s especially grateful for the leadership of Fr. Tommy and Deacon Les, whose warmth and presence help make each service meaningful.

When asked how he’d like to be remembered someday, Raymond keeps it simple and heartfelt: for the love he has for his friends and family. That sense of care and connection comes through clearly in how he lives, works, and shows up in the life of the church.

If you haven’t met Raymond yet, take a moment to introduce yourself. Whether you’re talking tech, games, or faith journeys, you’ll find a thoughtful presence—and likely a good conversation waiting.
